June 2019 marked a month of change. Fin having just completed his Masters and the Wooman set to relocate to Australia's Top End, they picked up Sandra and set off north. In their sights, the majestic Glass House Mountains.
The greatest adventure of the trip was conquering the 'Zeitgeist', a 105m sport route on the Eastern face of Mt Tibrogargan. Cooper's first multi-pitch, Sandra's first multi-pitch lead, and everyone's first send of this classic made it even that much more memorable.
Not only memories, but waves of emotions reaching the realm of elation. From conquering physical challenges, facing fear, and team bonding, one can't help but reflect on benefits greater than mere physical exercise.
The yin of great adventures had, and to be had, was balanced by the yang of deeper exploration of the mind.
So we're on the road again. Not quite sure where it will take us, we just know we need to travel down it.
Moving Forth
A poem by Allan Woo
Heading north,
moving forth.
On a journey,
familiar places.
The mind's history,
a faded mystery.
Topping Tibro,
a mighty accomplishment.
Expressing vulnerability,
a greater feat.
Weather threatening,
friendships strengthening.
Adventure or misadventure,
we were not sure.
But it's time to go,
this we know.
